Resumed my duty as an untrained teacher on 12th sept after a 2-day course of TPP (teacher prep prog).
Honestly, I'm not very busy at the moment, most prob cos I went in at a time where students are already busy preparing for EOY exams. So I've yet experience teaching a class. Mostly, relief work and co-teaching.
Well, the reason to why haven't I been updating my blog as regularly as I did in the past was due to a very valid reason, I've got a great listener. the sad thing is he'll be away for 3 wks, no doubt I'm gonna miss him dearly... =(
Ok, back school tales... I felt more like a student than a teacher on my first day. Standing still on the parade ground, listening to the national anthem as the flags rose. I didnt sing of cos. When it comes to the pledge, I could recite it without the need to process a single cell of my brain and it's no wonder since we'd all been drilled to recite it since 7 every morning for more than 10 yrs!
Life everyday as a teacher appears boring to others but more often than not it's those trivial things which others can't see that are interesting and amusing. Fortunately, the students were generally well disciplined which made my life much easier. Of cos there are bound to be some playful ones but still they are harmless la...
The only serious prob I came across is.. my brain only retained 60% of wat I learned ten yrs ago. Hence, I need to brush up my pure chem knowlegde... -_-! Worse still, I need Gingo Biloba badly cos my memory's really failing... I look like a 17 but I felt like a 30 leh.
Next, night classes are coming, and I'll be getting busy real soon.. staying as late as 9pm. They said it's voluntary, but as a contract teacher... I'm here to learn so it'll not reflect good if I dont help ya? Anw, ber will be away for that period, reaching home early means stoning thru the rest of the night...
