Okay to be fair, mine was half-half-marathon cos I did only the 10km non-competitive while dear was the one who completed the half-marathon (21km!) within a timing of 2hr45mins which earned him a medal!
Having to wake up early at 350am in the morning, I went to bed around 11pm the night before. On the contary to other nights where I usually fall and sleep like a log, I couldn't sleep that night! I ended up with less than 3 hrs of sleep and waited for my cousin to fetch me for to esplanade bridge early at 440am.Erm, the thing was he overslept and we only set off at 530am. Anyway, I was really grateful to him as I don't have to take a cab or even disrupt my dad's sweet dreams...
After meeting dear to put our bags in his locker, I had 1hr before my run (21km starts 630am; 10km starts 730am). I was strolling, stoning then stretching. Then at the starting point, I met my students by chance. Phew, I was not alone. It's always good to have company ya?
Soon after a while's chat, we were ready to set off. Maybe I was "sua gu" (mountain tortoise?) but there were soooo many participants that we had to walk about 10 to 15mins before we had room to run! Boy, I couldn't even see the starting line... -_-!
Surprisingly, I felt energised despite the lack of sleep. It was until around 7km which I felt myself dragging my feet. I tried not to walk though. Nearing the 10km mark, honestly there wasn't any overwhelming happiness or relieve, BUT I do felt stronger *grinz* Never knew getting older I could jog further..Actually, I thought I'll always be stuck at 2.4km since secondary.lolz
I was proud of myself as well as for dear since we both never thought we could do it in the first place. my longest distance ever covered was only 6km so the idea of 10km was crazy really! His was worse of coz -_-!
Some take-aways I had after completing the run:
I earned great satisfaction, knowing what doesn't kill me makes me stronger. =)
I regretted not going for 10km competitive (fear that I'll embarrass myself) cos I had no medal in the end... =(
We should sign up for better runs (in terms of better goodie bags!) considering I paid quite alot for just a bottle of new water (all there was in the goodie bag). okay la, and plenty of free water supply along the way including 100plus. =P
Need 4D numbers?
